During last year’s INTERIEUR 08 Biennale we presented the Belgian Design awards. This event led to the actual organisation of Design at Work 09.

Brigitte Borja de Mozota
Brigitte Borja de Mozota is a pioneer in design management who founded the first Ph.D. program on design management. She is author of the reference book Design Management and gives numerous speeches and seminars on the topic. An internationally respected researcher with long industry experience, she has been a member of the Board of Advisors of the Design Management Institute in Boston since 1995, and Chair of its Research Advisory Council since 1998 and is nominated DMI Institute Life Fellow in 2004. She has written numerous articles about design management and organized conferences on the subject for more than twenty years, including the DMI Academic Forum. She now teaches design, marketing, innovation and strategy at the Université Paris X Nanterre and design management at the prestigious ESSEC Business school (FR) and at the Brunel University Faculty of Engineering & Design (UK).
Axel Enthoven
Axel Enthoven (born in 1947) is President and founder of Enthoven Associates Design Consultants. He has held various teaching positions in his career and is since 1989 in charge of the department ‘Man and mobility’ at the Design Academy in Eindhoven (NL). Axel Enthoven obtained his first design award back in 1969. He and the company he founded have obtained dozens of awards since then. He has combined in his career management of design promotio, design in society and business and managed one of the leading design agencies in the EU. He has kept an activity in furniture design in parallel to his management responsibilities.
Adam Goodrum
Adam Goodrum (AU) graduated in industrial design from the University of Technology in Sydney and was honoured as Young Designer of the Year in Australia in 1997. After winning the Bombay Sapphire Design Discovery Award in 2004, he visited the furniture fair in Milan for the first time. He now works with Juventa, Cappellini and Whiteflax.
Paul Mijksenaar
Paul graduated in 1965 at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy, Department of Product Design, in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. From 1966 until 1978 he worked as freelance productdesigner before he joined the design bureau Total Design in Amsterdam as senior designer and team leader. In 1986 he founded Mijksenaar followed by the establishment of a subsidiary in New York in 2002; Bureau Mijksenaar USA Inc. Beside the subsidiary a joint venture with Arup Wayfinding became a reality at the end of 2004, Mijksenaar Arup Wayfinding. Arup is a worldwide operating engineering company with international reputation. The emphasis of Paul Mijksenaar’s work is on the informational, functional and editorial aspects of the designing process. Besides is Paul the author of countless articles and publications.
Philippe Picaud
Philippe Picaud is Design Director for Decathlon, his mission to develop the in-house brands, differentiating their individual offers and creating a seductive range of products for sporting people of all levels. His team includes more than 100 designers of whom a large number are located within the Brand units. Supporting the various design centres and to ensure high quality, creativity and innovation central disciplines have been created. These include Advanced Design, Packaging, User Experience – integrating Trends & Views plus the Colour Programme management, as well as Store Design dealing with the retail identity of the company. Very active in the profession, Philippe is presently on the Advisory Boards for both the Design Management Institute and ENSCI in Paris.
Last year’s press coverage (873 journalists from 5 continents) has been enormous, as well as the attention for the upcoming 09 edition with articles in international magazines such as Wallpaper (UK), Items (NL) and many others.
